NRW.INVEST Award

NRW.INVEST honors exemplary investments in North Rhine-Westphalia with the NRW.INVEST Award. At the same time, this acknowledgement is extended symbolically to all investors who have opted for North Rhine-Westphalia as their business location. Over the years since its inception, the NRW.INVEST Award has gone to either an individual company or several companies for their exemplary commitment to North Rhine-Westphalia and their contribution to the economic development of the state.

 
Award Winners 2012

Distinctions in the categories New Investment, Expansion Investment and Innovation:

New Investment category
In the "New Investment" category the NRW.INVEST AWARD went to the German branch of the French welding machine manufacturer GYS. The company invested 3.5 million euros in its new headquarters in Aachen in order to expand its administration and logistics capacities.

Expansion Investment category
The 2012 award for "Expansion Investment" went to the winning duo 3M in Neuss and Kleine Logistik in Grevenbroich which jointly expanded 3M's European distribution center in Jüchen.

Innovation category
In the "Innovation" category the award was presented to the Japanese company XTREME technologies GmbH which produces light sources in Alsdorf that generate extreme ultraviolet light.

Awards in the categories Innovation, Expansion Investment and New Investment:

Innovation
The winner of this year's NRW.INVEST AWARD in the "Innovation" category is the American firm Edgetech Europe. The company opened its first German plant in Heinsberg for the production of innovative, energy-saving plastic spacer systems for insulation glazing

Expansion Investment
The award for "Expansion Investment" goes to the Japanese automotive supplier DENSO Automotive Deutschland GmbH, which considerably expanded its research and development center in Wegberg-Oval.

New Investment
The winner in the "New Investment" category is the Polish company SECESPOL Deutschland GmbH, which opened its first German office in Düsseldorf in March 210.

Awards in the categories Innovation, Expansion Investment and New Investment:

Innovation

Expansion Investment
The Japanese manufacturer of power tools and petrol-driven garden equipment Makita invests 30 million euros in its new German headquarters in Ratingen.

New Investment
The three investors Danone Waters, Garbe Logistic and Reiner Bohnen Internationale Spedition are honored jointly for their new logistics center in Duisburg Port.

Awards in the categories Innovation, Expansion Investment and New Investment:

Innovation
The Bochum-based development center of the Canadian Blackberry manufacturer Research in Motion Deutschland GmbH (RIM) is recognized as the most innovative new location

Expansion Investment
The award for expansion investment goes to the Japanese flavor and fragrance manufacturer Takasago in Zülpich.

New Investment
The Chinese construction machinery manufacturer SANY invests 100 million euros in the construction of a new production plant in Cologne and Bedburg/Bergheim - Mühlenerft.

Four Nordic companies:

Norway
Statkraft for an investment of 500 million euros in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Finland
Rhein Papier is honored for its sustainable environmental protection in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Denmark
Genan for an exemplary innovation in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Sweden
Atlas Copco receives the award for its decades of commitment to North Rhine-Westphalia.

QVC (USA) for over 2,500 jobs created in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Award Winners 2004
The British vacuum cleaner manufacturer Dyson for the establishment of its German headquarters in Cologne.
Award Winners 2003
Bonduelle Frische GmbH (France) and NBV/UGA GmbH for their investment in Straelen.
