Automotive industry in NRW

NRW is one of the most important automotive locations in Ger­many. Every year, approx. one million passenger cars and commercial ve­hicles are produced here for the world market, as well as trailers, bodies, containers, vehicle parts, and accessories. In total, i.e. including suppliers that do not produce exclusively for the automotive industry, the industry encom­passes approx. 800 companies employing over 200,000 people. The four largest manufacturers in NRW are Ford in Cologne, Opel in Bochum, and Daimler in Düsseldorf.
