50 years dedicated to the business location North Rhine-Westphalia
On 26 November 2010, NRW.INVEST celebrated half a century of state economic development. At an evening event in the Düsseldorf state parliament building, numerous representatives from business, politics and administration looked back on the highlights of the past 50 years. The American comedian Gayle Tufts, the Chinese acrobat Wang Fei and the traditional Taiko group Tentekko provided a fascinating entertainment program.
In 1960, the then "Rheinisch-Westfälische Industrieförderungsgesellschaft mbH" was commissioned by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia to recruit new industries to succeed the crisis-stricken mining industry. Today, the focus of NRW.INVEST is on marketing North Rhine-Westphalia as an investment location and acquiring foreign direct investments.
