Alliance for Innovation: Germany's biggest alliance of universities
Innovation Through Co-operation Source: InnovationsAllianz NRW 2012
An extensive network of universities doesn’t just serve to promote research, but can also be of particular assistance to the economy. Realising this, 23 universities and polytechnics formed the InnovationsAllianz of North Rhine-Westphalia in 2007. Germany's biggest alliance of universities offers a common platform of co-operation for universities, companies, communities and social institutions. The network helps put scientific expertise into practice. Small and medium-sized enterprises in North Rhine-Westphalia get credit notes from the InnovationsAllianz, with which the alliance co-finances research assignments through state funding. Potential partners can interface at the various fora on research topics; the "InnovationsDialog NRW" is held every two years. InnovationsAllianz also consolidates interactive research and knowledge transfer among the participating universities. Additionally, the alliance actively and efficiently promotes North Rhine-Westphalia's achievements beyond regional and national borders.
