Environmental technology in NRW
Environmental technology and development play an outstanding role in North Rhine-Westphalia. A large, densely populated federal state, NRW is Germany's industrial heartland and produces and consumes more energy than any other region in Europe. NRW was the first German state to enact climate protection legislation and, on the basis of extensive funding programs, has dedicated itself to the development of innovative environmental technology. In this context NRW occupies a pre-eminent position, both nationally and internationally.
