After a two-year certification process, the Olpe Municipal Grammar School has now officially been named an "IB World School" by the International Baccalaureate Organization. This means that in the future, students will not only be able to take both the standard and the bilingual Abitur, as well as the "IB Diploma Programme" (IP IB), a qualification that is recognized in almost all countries of the world as a prerequisite for admission to university.
There are already currently ten students registered, and further inquiries have been received. Peter Weber, Mayor of Olpe: "The program is aimed not only at young people who come here from abroad with their parents. In particular, it is also an important offering to the children in our region."
The educational program is free of charge for students thanks to the support of the sponsoring association founded in the fall of 2018.
The institution is the tenth international school in NRW. These are joined by nine foreign schools. The international schools are privately run educational institutions. Here, students can acquire internationally recognized qualifications for university entrance. In contrast, the organization and teaching at foreign schools comply with the school regulations in force in the respective country of origin and prepare students for graduation there.
