After 33 successful years, NRW.Global Business says goodbye to Rainer Hornig, who is retiring.

He strengthened relations with Asia, developed major event series and has been an authorized signatory at North Rhine-Westphalia's economic development agency for decades – now Rainer Hornig is ending his career and retiring.

As an employee in management consulting, Rainer Hornig began his career in 1988 at the Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftsförderung des Landes NRW (now NRW.Global Business). Just a few years later, the graduate economist was appointed head of the Management Consulting Asia division and in 1992, together with the then management, was responsible, among other things, for the establishment of NRW.Japan K.K., the first subsidiary, based in Tokyo.

As an expert for the Asian region, Hornig conceived the "NRW City Forums" in 1993 – an event, which was held several times in Tokyo in subsequent years, to promote North Rhine-Westphalia as a business location. In addition, Rainer Hornig taught at the FHM (Fachhochschule des Mittelstands = University of Applied Sciences for Medium-Sized Companies) in Bielefeld and was instrumental in the development of important measures to promote the location.
