The global logistics service provider Rhenus is building an 85,000 m² logistics center at one of the Delta Port harbors in Wesel by 2023. "We find optimal conditions in the Rhine-Lippe Port to supply the Ruhr and Rhine regions with various goods from here," explains Andreas Mayer, member of the management of Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Germany. The settlement will bring new jobs, for example for material handlers, logistics engineers and software developers.

The owner and lessor of the facility is the logistics real estate developer Beos Logistics, which is also investing in particular in a sustainable construction design for the project. Ingo Steves, Managing Partner of BEOS Logistics, is convinced of the locational advantages at the Rhine-Lippe Port: The site is a prime piece of real estate – located directly on Europe's most important waterway, at the gates of Europe's largest conurbation, but on the edge of the congestion cluster Ruhr region/ Greater Cologne – that is unparalleled in Germany.

For the Delta Port harbors, this settlement is a further step on the way to becoming an international logistics hub. According to Managing Director Andreas Stolte, the Delta Port harbors of Wesel/Voerde (Rhein-Lippe-Hafen Wesel, Stadthafen Wesel, Hafen Voerde-Emmelsum), Emmerich and the NIAG port of Rheinberg-Orsoy, which are organized in a network, have become pioneers in digitalization and sustainability in recent years and are involved in many research projects relating to logistics of the future.
