A European energy forum is to be built at Düsseldorf Airport. The start of construction of the EUREF campus was marked in traditional fashion by a groundbreaking ceremony conducted by Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller, NRW Minister President Armin Laschet and EUREF AG CEO Reinhard Müller. EUREF (European Energy Forum) is a private sector developer of energy and environmentally optimized real estate.
In three years, the campus will serve as a location for startups and companies from the fields of energy, sustainability and mobility. The site is the size of six soccer fields and sees itself as a reference location for environmentally friendly urban development. The EUREF Campus concept includes, for example, a climate-neutral energy supply, a smart energy grid and energy-efficient buildings.
Armin Laschet, Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia, said at the project launch: "North Rhine-Westphalia is a major driver of innovation and transformation in Germany and a pioneer in the energy and mobility transition. This is also underlined by the future EUREF Campus in Düsseldorf, which brings together know-how and international research in key future fields such as energy, mobility, sustainability and environmental protection with companies and innovative startups at a central location."
